Job Summary
The School of Leadership, part of the College of Business and Economic Development at The University of Southern Mississippi, invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor position in Marketing. The position runs from August, 2023 through May, 2024 and is located on the Gulf Park campus. Candidates with experience and interest in face-to-face and online teaching of social media marketing are encouraged to apply.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. The Visiting Assistant Professor will teach four courses per semester (or equivalent) to be determined by the Director of the School. Teaching obligations will primarily support the Marketing BSBA degree, but may also include support of other programs.
  2. Teach in-person, hybrid formats, and in active-learning
    online classrooms. 
  3. Maintain
    quality teaching and contribute to the mission of the program.
  4. Hold
    regular office hours.
  5. Engage
    in service activities, such as committee work and other official activities, to
    assist the functioning of the School, College, and University.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • A master’s
    degree in Marketing or a related discipline, preferably from a regionally
    accredited institution.
  • Evidence
    of successful college or industry teaching/training experience in marketing or a
    related field.
  • Participation in activities promoting teaching
    and service within the institution.
  • Relevant teaching experience; prior experience with online teaching is desirable. 
  • Practical English-language oral and written communication skills through documented effectiveness or external engagement activities. 

Preferred Qualifications and Experience 

  • A Ph.D./D.B.A.
    (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university in Marketing or a related field.
  • Evidence
    of experience teaching both in-person and online courses.
  • Desire to assist the growth and fulfill the
    missions of the School, College, and University through service.
