The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia invites applications for a full-time General Faculty position at the Lecturer rank (tenure ineligible). This position will entail teaching 24 credit hours. Key responsibilities will include course development and instruction for one or more courses that are part of McIntire’s new General Business Minor (GBM), launching in the Fall of 2023. The minor will be open to all UVA undergraduate students who are not enrolled in the BS Commerce program. The minor curriculum includes a 1.5-credit required Marketing Principles & Strategy course, as well as a Marketing Research elective. These courses will be developed so that they can be delivered both in person and online.

Teaching the required minor course will comprise roughly half of the 24-credit load. The other portion of the load will consist of minor elective courses or courses the area offers in other programs, such as Brand Management, Social & Digital Marketing, and Marketing Research / Analytics.

Job Requirements:
A Master’s degree (e.g., MS, MBA) in Marketing or related field is required; having a Ph.D. is strongly preferred. Applicants must have at least 2 years teaching experience of Marketing courses, particularly at the introductory level in undergraduate or graduate programs. Experience with course design and online delivery are also preferred. The Marketing Principles & Strategy course will require applicants to teach the basic “4Ps of marketing.” This content encompasses decisions regarding Products (and brands), Price, Promotion, and Place (distribution channels) such that a firm’s offerings meet specific consumer needs, demands, or wants. This includes a strong consideration of consumer behavior and marketing as enhancing societal and consumer well-being.
