The John Chambers College of Business & Economics at West Virginia University (WVU), located in Morgantown, WV, invites applications for two non-tenure track teaching assistant professor-scholarly academic (TAP-SA) of marketing positions in the marketing department beginning in January or August 2023. This position is a nine-month appointment subject to renewal.

This position is in support of college-level, in-person, and online undergraduate and graduate programs in Marketing. Approximately, 60% of time is devoted to teaching 6 3-credit course sections per year, and approximately 20% of time is dedicated to research and 20% to service to the department, college, university, and the state.

The John Chambers College of Business and Economics was founded in November of 1951 and, in 1954, became fully accredited by the AACSB International. The Chambers College offers undergraduate majors in Accounting, Economics, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Finance, General Business, Global Supply Chain Management, Hospitality and Tourism, Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing, and Organizational Leadership. At the master’s level, the Chambers College offers traditional and online-hybrid MBA programs, as well as disciplinary master’s degrees in Accountancy, Business Cyber Security, Business Data Analytics, Economics, Finance, Forensic and Fraud Examination, and Human Resource Management. At the doctoral level, the Chambers College offers a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics and a Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration, with majors in Accounting, Finance, Management, and Marketing. Qualifications

Qualified applicants should:   

  • Hold a Ph.D. degree in marketing or closely related field, such as but not limited to: International Business, Supply Chain Management, Communication, or Consumer Studies by the time of employment. 
  • Evidence of teaching excellence with proven teaching experience of at least one semester (6 months) of undergraduate marketing classes is also required. 

​​​​​​​The ideal candidate has a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and success in scholarly publications. Qualified candidates possess knowledge, skill and interest in teaching undergraduate courses in the topics of consumer behavior, professional selling, marketing research and marketing sub-specialties: product, price, distribution and promotion. Candidates should have taught at least one semester (6 months) of undergraduate marketing courses, and demonstrate success of publishing scholarly works in academic outlets in marketing topics.

Candidates are expected to embrace a teaching philosophy grounded in experiential learning initiatives. The candidate is expected to effectively teach marketing courses (in both in-person and online formats) at the undergraduate level and work with colleagues to support and enhance our innovative and engaging program culture, and rapid growth. Service duties include supporting current faculty with developing program offerings, curriculum development and support, recruitment, student retention, student placement activities, and industry outreach.
