The Amsterdam Business School invites applications for a teaching position in the department of Marketing. The appointment will be for a full-time or part-time position as Lecturer or Junior Lecturer. We seek candidates who are committed to excellence in teaching Marketing courses in our BSc, MSc, and executive programs. The intended starting date is 1 January 2023, but starting earlier or later is a possibility.

What are you going to do

As a Lecturer, you will coordinate and teach Marketing and related courses in our BSc, MSc, and executive programs. You will also contribute to the development of education by embedding novel themes and technologies into courses. You will also supervise BSc and MSc thesis projects.

As a Junior Lecturer, you will teach Marketing and related courses in our BSc, MSc, and executive programs, and supervise BSc thesis projects.

What do we require

For the Lecturer level, the ideal candidate:

  • Has a PhD or nearly completed PhD degree in marketing or a related discipline;
  • has demonstrated excellent teaching skills at undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate level;
  • has a proven track record of innovative education development.

For the Junior Lecturer level, the ideal candidate:

  • Has an MSc or nearly completed MSc degree in Marketing or a related discipline;
  • has excellent teaching potential; 
  • has experience as a student assistant or comparable work experience.

Our offer

For the Lecturer level, the selected candidate will be offered a one-year position, which can be extended into a permanent contract, conditional upon a positive evaluation. The gross monthly salary will be between €3,974 (salary scale 11) and €6,181 (salary scale 12) (+ 16.3% holiday and end-year payments), depending on experience. 

For the Junior Lecturer level, the selected candidate will be offered a fixed-term four-year position. The gross monthly salary will be, between €2,960 and €4,670 (salary scale 10) (+ 16.3% holiday and end-year payments), depending on experience.

This is based on 38 hours per week and in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, regulating employment conditions at Dutch universities. The UvA offers a very attractive pension scheme.

A temporary reduction in income tax (equal to 30% of taxable salary) may apply to non-Dutch candidates. The Collective Labour Agreement (CAO) for Dutch Universities is applicable.

About the faculty/service unite/department/institute

The marketing department at Amsterdam Business School is a growing interdisciplinary group of currently 15 faculty members with expertise in a broad range of topics and research methods.  The members of the department publish in the top-tier marketing journals as well as top journals in related disciplines such as management and psychology. All members of the department are passionately involved in teaching in BSc and MSc programs. The atmosphere is international, inclusive, and collaborative. At the marketing department at Amsterdam Business School we do research that makes a substantial positive impact and reflects our ambition for a bright future.
