Position Summary: 
The School of Business & Economics is internationally accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). We offer students a broad-based education with a global perspective and emphasis on experiential learning. The Marketing and Entrepreneurship department prepares students for careers as modern day business professionals. This tenure-track position is to begin Spring 2023 (preferred) or Fall 2023. The primary responsibilities of this faculty member will be teaching courses at the undergraduate level which may include courses such as digital marketing, advertising, mobile and social media marketing, and marketing strategy. Student advisement along with departmental, college, and university service is expected. SUNY Plattsburgh offers in-residence education and faculty are expected to be actively engaged on campus and contribute to an energetic educational environment. As an institution that delivers challenging and high-quality educational experiences to a diverse group of learners, the successful candidate must demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity, inclusion, and equity-minded policies, programs, and practices. The successful candidate may be asked to teach courses in a distance learning format.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Marketing is required for appointment as Assistant Professor. ABD in Marketing will be considered for appointment at a lesser (qualified) rank and salary, upon proof that the applicant’s defense of their dissertation will be scheduled within the first year of the appointment. A successful ABD applicant will receive promotion to the rank of Assistant Professor and a salary increment at the start of the semester following verification of the terminal degree completion. An ABD hire will be limited to a one-year appointment, subject to renewal for one year only (2 years maximum).
  • Commitment to and evidence of excellence in teaching
  • Academically qualified, at the time of appointment, with respect to AACSB standards (Publication of articles in scholarly journals, defense of dissertation, or evidence of research in-progress)
  • Strong communication skills
  • A demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, staff and administrators

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Marketing from an AACSB Accredited Institution
  • Experience teaching one of more of the following classes: digital marketing, advertising, mobile and social media marketing, marketing strategy
  • Relative industry experience
  • Experience with student engagement, experiential learning, and/or student organizations
