Basic Function:
The School of Management, which offers both graduate and undergraduate programs, is the largest of the professional schools at the university. The mission of the School of Management is to prepare students for success with integrity in their professional and personal lives through scholarship, diverse learning experiences, and community engagement in a global context. For more information, visit https://www.callutheran.edu/management/ The successful candidate will teach marketing courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. All undergraduate courses are instructed in-person, and graduate courses are delivered either online or in-person. The teaching load for this position is 32 credits per year. Undergraduate courses are 4 credits each and offered on a semester basis, while graduate courses are 3 credits each and offered on a quarterly basis. This may translate to a 5/4 or 4/5 teaching load. Under the direction of the Associate Dean or Program Director, the Marketing Lecturer is responsible for providing academic instruction to students for the assigned undergraduate and/or graduate courses. The Marketing Lecturer is to serve as a mentor to students including serving as the AMA student club advisor among other student-centered mentorship opportunities and serve on faculty or university committees (as eligible), as outlined in the faculty handbook. While the Lecturer level faculty is not required to engage in scholarly activities, the School of Management is interested in candidates who can contribute to both the academic mission of the University and the accreditation standards of the School of Management. The candidate will mainly teach, mentor and serve a diverse population of traditional-age students at our main Thousand Oaks campus, but could potentially also teach courses at one of our satellite campuses or online in one of the School of Management’s graduate programs. Cal Lutheran is primarily a teaching institution. Faculty in the School of Management are encouraged to engage industry partners in the development of experiential learning opportunities and applied studies in their discipline. 

This position will only be hired at the Marketing Lecturer level. The base salary range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000.

Representative Duties:
Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses. Create assignments and activities in one-on-one, classroom, and distance mediated instructional settings for development of cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher order thinking skills among students. Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and student learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations; provide feedback in a timely manner to student inquiries in class, online, or during established consultation office hours. E
Maintain current, accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, student academic progress, course curriculum; prepare and submit grades, data, and reports related to course and student progress in a timely manner. E
Provide a course syllabus to students in each class within the first week of the class, as outlined in the faculty handbook. E
Adhere to the responsibilities related to teaching, advising and service, as outlined in the faculty handbook. E
Attend and participate on committees and in department, division, campus, and University meetings. E
Performs related duties as assigned.

Demonstrate commitment to professional excellence and continuous growth within subject field or discipline

Minimum Qualifications:
Masters in Business with an emphasis/concentration in Marketing or Masters in Marketing; Ph.D. in Marketing, or PhD in Business Administration with emphasis/concentration/major/minor in Marketing, or Ph.D. in Business Administration with a professional certification in marketing or substantial marketing experience. Applicant must have at least 15 graduate credit hours in the marketing discipline. Demonstrated ability to mentor underrepresented, underserved, and first-generation students. This includes African American, Latinx, and Native American students. Demonstrated excellence in teaching within the marketing discipline.Undergraduate academic advising and career counseling experience 

Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience in some of the following courses preferred: Principles of Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Marketing Research, Consumer Marketing, Sales, and Brand Management. Professional industry work experience at the managerial level related to marketing discipline. Demonstrated ability to publish in academic journals related to marketing. Demonstrated ability to engage industry partners or local community in developing experiential learning opportunities. Experience teaching courses in person, online or hybrid.
