Responsibilities
The University of Akron, Department of Marketing invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting August 22, 2022. Teaching responsibilities may include courses in Digital Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Brand Management, and Integrated Marketing Communications. Research responsibilities involve conducting high quality research. Other responsibilities include participating in departmental service activities as assigned by the department chair.

Required Qualifications
Doctorate degree in Marketing, Advertising, or a closely related field by August 22, 2022. Evidence of, or potential for, ongoing high-quality research and publication in the applicant’s areas of scholarly specialization. A record of, or potential for, teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D., from an AACSB accredited program. Experience in teaching online or web-enhanced courses. Industrial, corporate, non-for-profit or new venture experiences, with a focus on social media or digital marketing.

Salary

The Department of Marketing is in the College of Business and offers an undergraduate Bachelor of Business Administration degree in both Marketing and Sales Management. In addition, we support a minor in marketing and several sales certificate programs. The department also supports our MBA program offering courses in multiple formats, including a weekend cohort MBA, a fully on-line MBA, and a hybrid Flex MBA program. Our undergraduate programs provide majors and minors with broad knowledge of marketing with a focus on experiential and project-based learning. Located in an urban setting with significant support from alumni and the business and philanthropic communities our teaching utilizes real clients and comprehensive projects that reflect the complexity of today’s marketing environment. 

The standard teaching load is three classes per semester.
