Position Summary or Faculty Qualifications:       

Saint Joseph’s University, Department of Food Marketing, invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor anticipated to begin in September 2022

Food Marketing at SJU is the only business school academic department offering undergraduate, graduate, executive and continuing education in food marketing. The Food Marketing Department is in the Erivan K. Haub School of Business, is internationally accredited by AACSB, and is an operating program for over 50 years. The department was rated as the 11th best food marketing Master’s program in the world by Eduniversal and the undergraduate was ranked 7th in marketing programs by US News (which included all the Haub specialty marketing programs such as food marketing/) 

The department is supported by the Academy of Food Marketing which provides financial support for undergraduate and graduate students. and manages the Co-op and internship program as well as supports job placement.  Traditionally 100% of our food marketing graduates have job offers often before the end of the school year. 

The department offers a BS degree, MS and MBA degrees in food marketing and delivers non-degree education for the industry at domestic and international venues. 

The Food Marketing faculty research and lecture extensively regarding the food industry in the areas of consumer behavior, marketing strategy, food policy and sustainability, retailing channels, promotion, advertising and communications.

Applicants with research expertise in food marketing and a demonstrated involvement with the food industry are encouraged to apply.  Showing peer reviewed academic research in food marketing is essential and writing in the food trade press is a positive.

The University is a private, Jesuit institution serving more than 6,000 students. There are 4 full-time faculty lines and approximately 500 undergraduate and 100 graduate students in the department.

Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Duties):      

Candidate is expected to teach three courses per semester in one or more of the following areas: Food Marketing Research, Food Industry Overview, Food Marketing Communications, Food Consumer Behavior, Foodservice or Strategy.  In addition to teaching, candidate is expected to maintain a record of quality scholarly activity as well as food trade evolvement, and advise students 

Minimum Requirements:    

Candidate must have a Ph.D. in Marketing, Agribusiness, Business, Administration or a related discipline and have an active research agenda related to food marketing.

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional experience in the food industry.
Commitment to excellence in teaching.
Experience with On-Line Teaching.
Interest in developing and strengthening department programs.
Evidence of interaction and relationship-building with the food industry and its stakeholders.
