Deakin’s Department of Marketing ranks third in Australia and number one in Victoria across all academic levels in terms of the citations of our research publications.   It has developed a range of innovative teaching initiatives at the graduate and undergraduate level. With 19 staff members, it has developed innovative teaching initiatives, concentrating on social/transformative marketing, services marketing and marketing communication, strategy and education.

Several opportunities now exist to join the Department as Lecturer in Marketing.  You will be actively involved in teaching including making significant contributions to innovative teaching and carrying out activities to maintain, and develop your scholarly research and/or professional activities relevant to the profession and discipline. You will also undertake research and publish in quality internationally ranked journals and also participate in external competitive research funding activities. The role also involves service in academic and professional service and engagement, industry partnerships and professional activities to enhance the scholarly reputation of the University.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline.
  • Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including experience in innovative curriculum design
  • An ability to teach in, retailing, business marketing or Martech
  • Emerging reputation in research and scholarship through publications and/or exhibitions and/or success in obtaining external research funding
  • Ability to make a contribution to community engagement for research and teaching
  • Capacity to contribute to leadership of teaching, research and/or administration
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues
  • Commitment in fostering relationships with research, community, industry, government and professional partners and with other higher educational institutions.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • develop and implement the Department’s teaching programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including supervision at doctoral level
  • Implement creative teaching practices to improve student success and engagement
  • develop and publish high-quality research in journals of national and international repute, and participate in competitive external research funding activities
  • implement initiatives that enhance the Department’s disciplinary profile and reputation and foster relationships with research, community, industry, government and professional partners and other higher education institutions
  • Provide effective mentoring, including professional development and links with industry partners for HDR students to support professional and career development and employability
  • enhance the scholarly reputation of the University and actively contribute to the development of the Department’s research agenda
