Position & Qualifications

The Department of Economics and Business strives to prepare students for leadership positions in a global society and offers a major in economics and tracks in general business, international business, finance, and a new entrepreneurship track, along with business and international business minors, and a new minor in entrepreneurship. This position carries a teaching load of three undergraduate courses per semester. Other duties include maintaining scholarly activity in the form of publications and presentations; developing curriculum; advising, mentoring, and recruiting students; participating in department and university service; and engaging with the vibrant local Roanoke Valley business community.  

The successful candidate will have a strong record of innovative, student-centered teaching at the undergraduate level, evidence of scholarly accomplishment, demonstrated leadership in business curriculum development, and a strong commitment to the liberal arts and women’s education. They will be able to teach introduction to business, international business, and business law and ethics, in addition to other required and elective courses in business, such as organizational behavior, marketing, e-commerce, and entrepreneurship. The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in business, business economics, marketing, or organizational behavior or a D.B.A.
