lecturer (tenure track) Customer experience and retailing
Background
The central research theme of the Marketing group is customer centricity. Within this context the research group Marketing offers a position for an assistant professor in tenure track. This role involves contributing to the various educational programs (bachelor and master courses) as well as the research (own research and the supervision of doctoral candidates) of the group.
Education task
You will be involved in different courses at the bachelor and master level. You must be able to teach in Dutch and English. The teaching assignment involves designing and teaching general marketing courses and courses like customer experience management, consumer behavior, and digital marketing. Supervising internships bachelor and master theses is also part of the teaching assignment.  


Research mission
Your research profile is characterized by a focus on customer experience and/or retailing. Important evaluation criteria include that:
the research can be linked to the concept of customer centricity (in a broad sense); the research is characterized by both practical relevance and academic rigor; the expectation that the research leads to publications in relevant and internationally renowned scientific journal (i.e., A1-ranked journals);the expectation that the research is eligible for possible funding (e.g., national level, internal funding).
ProfileYou have a PhD (preferably in the domain of customer experience and/or retailing)(or equal). You have a relevant and proven research track record (i.e., publications in relevant A1-ranked journals) and (inter)national network in the domains of customer experience, retail marketing and/or consumer behavior.Preferably, you have experience with successfully applying for external research funding.Academic staff needs to comply with the language regulations for the administrative language (Dutch, CEFR level B2) and the language of instruction (Dutch and/or English, CEFR level C1). Hasselt University provides tailor-made support to help reach the required language level if necessary according to the Flemish language regulation.You must be able to quickly integrate in the UHasselt teaching system and must have a passion for high quality education.You must have demonstrable teaching experience regarding general marketing courses (bachelor level) as well as retail marketing and/or consumer behavior (master level).You have demonstrable experience concerning the following facets of academic education: course coordination and organization, development of teaching materials, and the supervision of projects and theses.You have at least 2 years of relevant post-doctoral working experience in an academic setting.You have experience in supervising students at various levels (bachelor, master, and doctoral).You have a proactive and service-oriented attitude, you are a team player and have a passion for quality.
Offer
We will offer either an appointment as a lecturer in the tenure track system during 5 years. This will lead to an immediate permanent contract as a senior lecturer, if the Board of Directors favorably assesses the party involved, based on previously set public grading criteria. Otherwise, we will offer a fulltime appointment as a lecturer or higher, which will lead to tenure. In case of a first appointment as a member of the academic staff, the Board of Directors of the University can decide on a temporary appointment for a period up to 3 years. This will lead to a permanent contract if the Board of Directors favorably assesses the party involved.
