DEPARTMENT: Our department includes 13 tenure-track management, entrepreneurship, international business, and marketing faculty and two additional instructors who are committed to innovative teaching, scholarly excellence, and engagement with the local business community. Our Department offers majors in Business Administration, Marketing, and International Business in addition to minors/concentrations in Leadership for Sustainability, Entrepreneurship, Business, and Marketing.

It is an exciting time to teach in the School of Business at the College of Charleston. The School of Business is thriving, and professional and academic opportunities are becoming available through executive education and the addition of programs to serve non-traditional students. The Marketing major and minor are growing, and the School of Business has an abundance of active extra-curricular and curricular engagement opportunities (the “Make Your Mark” Marketing Speaker Series; the Schottland Scholars program; Global Entrepreneurship Week). The department is also actively engaged in study abroad, and continues to support a growing internship program. Moreover, the College of Charleston School of Business is a centerpiece in the Charleston community, with an active Board of Governors and access to community leaders.

The College has a new President, and even newer Provost, and recently launched a new strategic plan. The College continues to commit resources to bringing into the classroom topics including sustainability, race, diversity, and inclusion. We have an active Teaching, Learning, and Technology office, and our faculty felt more prepared than most to teach online throughout the pandemic. The College of Charleston was founded in 1770 and is the thirteenth oldest college or university in the United States. In addition to its core liberal arts and sciences, the College offers selected graduate degrees including a one-year accelerated MBA program. As an urban university, the College is in the center of downtown Charleston, a progressive city for several years identified as one of the premier tourist destinations in the United States. The city hosts the annual Spoleto and Piccolo Spoleto festivals, the Charleston Wine and Food festival, Charleston Fashion Week, and the annual Southeast Wildlife Exposition. Charleston boasts a number of nationally-recognized chefs whose community spirit contributes substantially to the vibrancy of the city. But there is more to Charleston than hospitality and tourism: the region is home to the Boeing 787 Dreamliner plant (that employs over 6,000), to the East Coast’s fourth largest port, and to a growing technology sector that includes NASDAQ-listed Benefitfocus and Blackbaud as well as over a hundred small and growing tech companies.

The College of Charleston is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity employer and does not discriminate against any individual or group on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, race, color, religion, national origin, veteran status, genetic information, or disability.

The department will begin considering applications on February 1, 2021, and will continue considering applicants until the position is filled. Applications can be submitted via jobs.cofc.edu. Please contact the Department Chair with questions.
